Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6— 7)
My grandmother died when I was just a baby but I do know an awful lot about her philosophies for life and one of my favorite adages is her advice about worrying. Often enough as I was growing up if someone was spending time worrying, my mother would say "You know what my mother always said about worrying." "People who cross their bridges before they come to them have to pay the toll twice."
Paul also directs us not to worry. Not just not to worry, but not to worry about anything and he advises us on what to do with that worry. Bring it to God in prayer, humbly beseech the Lord about all your struggles and be thankful for His love and listening ear.
Worried about your current situation, unemployment, illness, struggles with family members?
Worried about the world situation, war, famine, unrest in other nations?
Worried about the United States, immigration, terrorism, national debt?
Don't do it, wherever you are STOP, take this action. Call out to your Creator, be honest and open with your concerns, open your heart and your mind to the love and guidance of God. Paul tells us that when we do this something miraculous will happen. When we lay our burden at the feet of our creator God will bring us peace beyond our understanding. He will help us and guide us in ways we cannot imagine.
Heavenly Father gives us the faith to trust you with our every worry. Help us to believe that you will take on our burden, that you walk beside us in our joys and sorrows. Help us to seek your promise of peace beyond our understanding.
