"Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. . . . . . . . ."
Ephesians 6:10-17
Just as we dress our physical bodies to prepare for the day, I believe that following Luther's instructions dress our souls for each new day. I like to imagine each of God1s children rising from there night of rest and dressing ourselves as Paul describes. "Stand therefore and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these take the shield of faith, . . . . Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
This week as we dress ourselves for each new day, let's also dress our spirits with God1s Holy Word. What better way to begin each morning then to robe ourselves with truth, righteousness, faith, and salvation.
Martin Luther
I give thanks to you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ your dear Son, that you have protected me through the night from all harm and danger and I ask that you would also protect me today from sin and every danger, so that my life and actions may please you. Into your hands I commend my body, my soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel be with me, so that the wicked foe may have no power over me. Amen.
