"Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand, therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
Ephesians 6: 13-17
Our society is torn on political issues, social injustices, racism, and each one's beliefs. Each of us takes a stand and our uniqueness may cause divisions. But if we put on the armor of God, we will find common dialogue with others to pursue a peace with our fellow man. Martin Luther took a stand that scripture is important for the Christian to build up our bodies in faith. He felt the church is responsible for these teachings. How many of us will open scripture to seek the truth or use it for a one sided idea? What battle do we encounter at home or the workplace? Are we standing firm in God's truth and righteousness, ready to share our faith through God's word? Paul's message is a challenge for us to put on the armor of God but if we try each day, what a difference we would make in this world!
Lord, we pray for guidance in our daily life that we may overcome the injustices we may face. Forgive us for not always being ready to share our faith as we ought. Help us to stand firm in Your righteousness and not our prejudices. May your Spirit show us a unity for peace without divisions in our homes and workplace. Each day remind us to put on the whole armor of God, so that we can make a Christian difference in Your world. In Jesus name we pray. Amen
